When it comes to working with parents, we consider parents and families a part of our team; by working with you and staying closely in touch, we can ensure Beach House is an environment where every child will thrive and flourish. We believe that parents and staff working together is vital in ensuring a child's individual needs are fully met and each child gets the most from their nursery experience.
We see parents as the child's first and most enduring educators. So, with that at the forefront of our minds, we make it our priority to build strong, lasting and professional partnerships with our families to ensure the best possible outcome for every child in our care, whilst consistently meeting your family's needs.
We strive to achieve open, two-way communication and always make time to talk at the beginning and end of each day, or throughout the day via the telephone. We also keep you to up to date with current events and news at nursery through Tapestry or our parent Newsletter.
We welcome parents into the nursery environment, and we value your input and involvement at Beach House. Parents, carers and family members are welcome to arrive at the setting prior to their child’s session ending, or to stay with us at drop off, to see their child engaging in play, and to share these special moments with your child.
We also offer ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, where we invite family members into the nursery at special times of year, such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas and Easter. We also hold fundraising events throughout the year, such as for Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Children in Need, Save the Children and British Heart Foundation. We involve parents fully in our fundraising events, from bake sales to dressing up! We value all of your wonderful ideas, thoughts and contributions!
We also welcome any contribution a parent, grandparent or other family member would like to make. From reading a story, cooking a traditional dish for the children to share, or bringing in a family pet! We enjoy learning about the occupations and hobbies our parents have, from the people who help us in our local community, to their wonderful talents and interests such as dancing, performing or music playing. All of these enrich the children’s learning in an entertaining way.
Parent's knowledge of their child is important and partnership working is sought at every point. All parents/carers are encouraged to contribute to their child’s care and education through ongoing discussion, parents evening and contributions to their child’s online Tapestry account.
Tapestry – Online Learning Journal
At Beach House Nursery the children’s learning is recorded on Tapestry. This is an online system which records photos, observations and comments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage and enables us to to build up a record of your child’s learning and development during their time with us.
As a safe and secure system, Tapestry enables you to access your child’s learning journey at anytime from a free app or website, you can access our observations at home to share with your family.
You can comment on observations as well as post your child’s own adventures and experiences on Tapestry and share them with us, we are then able to celebrate them with your child at nursery.
The safeguarding of our children is very important to us. Everything that is added to Tapestry can only be viewed by yourself and the Beach House team. You have access to your child’s Learning Journal via a secure login which cannot be seen by other parents.
